Reasons that some coated webbing break after punching

Coated webbing is more and more widely used in bags, pet supplies and many outdoor products. To process coated webbing into a final finished product, coated webbing usually should be punched or sewed. The occurrence of separation between the plastic layer and the webbing during the punching process is a common issue in some coated webbing products. However, for quality-compliant coated webbing, proper punching should not lead to layering issues. Once this problem arises, it not only affects the overall tensile strength of the coated webbing but may also compromise its aesthetic appeal. Generally, TPU coated webbing, or PVC coated webbing with specific treatments, is less prone to layering after punching. This is because TPU forms a strong bond with nylon webbing due to its excellent compatibility, while PVC, which does not fuse naturally with nylon, requires special treatments to prevent layering issues.

TPU coated webbing, owing to its exceptional bonding properties, typically does not experience separation between the plastic layer and the webbing during the punching process. The compatibility between TPU and nylon webbing facilitates a strong and secure bond during the manufacturing process. This ensures that TPU coated webbing maintains its integrity and performance even after punching, resisting any forces that might lead to layering.

In comparison, PVC coated webbing faces challenges in bonding with nylon webbing. The poor fusion between PVC and nylon makes it prone to layering issues after punching. Therefore, manufacturers of PVC coated webbing need to employ special treatments, such as surface modification or the addition of specific adhesives, to enhance the bond between the plastic layer and the webbing. Through these additional processing steps, the occurrence of layering during punching can be effectively prevented, improving the overall quality of the product.

To prevent layering in coated webbing during punching, manufacturers need to strengthen quality control to ensure that materials and processes meet standards. Regular inspection and maintenance of punching equipment to ensure proper functioning and adjustment of relevant process parameters are effective measures for preventing issues. Additionally, introducing strict inspection standards during the production process ensures that each roll of coated webbing meets quality requirements.

In conclusion, addressing the issue of layering in coated webbing during punching requires selecting appropriate materials and employing correct processing techniques. By implementing a scientifically sound quality control system, coated webbing can maintain superior performance during the punching process, enhancing its reliability and durability across various applications.
