Why do we usually refuse customers provide inner webbing?

Coated webbing is more and more widely used in our daily life. Then many customers would like to customize coated webbing for their products. Some of them advise that they would like to provide inner webbing to us for coating. In many cases, we seldom accept customers' own webbing for coating. There are several factors behind this decision, including the material and quality of the inner webbing's impact on coating production.

1. Limitations of webbing materials

Some webbing materials are not suitable for coating, with the most common being polypropylene (PP) webbing. During the coating process, the internal webbing needs to be processed through a high-temperature machine along with TPU material simultaneously. However, PP webbing has a relatively low melting point, making it prone to melting under high temperatures, leading to webbing breakage during the coating process. Therefore, PP webbing is typically not suitable for coating.

2. Requirements for Nylon and Polyester Webbing

Nylon and polyester webbing are often suitable for coating, but they have very high quality requirements. These webbings need to maintain small dimensional errors and shrinkage rates during processing to ensure that the final coated webbing meets the expected size and quality standards. Or the nylon and polyester webbing will shrink to much after going through the high-temperature machine. Then the size of final coated webbing will be smaller. Therefore, if the webbing quality does not meet the standards, it may lead to the production of a large number of defective products, thus increasing costs and production time.

For customers, providing their own webbing for coating may bring some convenience, but it also brings challenges in quality control. Customers need to ensure that the provided webbing meets the production requirements; otherwise, it may lead to quality issues with the coated webbing, increasing unnecessary risks and costs.

Given the complexity of the requirements for webbing coating and quality control, we recommend that customers do not provide their own webbing for coating. Instead, they should choose experienced webbing coating manufacturers who have advanced production equipment and strict quality control processes. This ensures the production of high-quality coated webbing that meets customer needs and expectations.
